Longwood head women’s basketball coach Erika Lang-Montgomery announced the hiring of Brendan Scanlon as a graduate assistant coach on Thursday.
A four-year squad member at Saint Francis, the Northeast Conference school in Loretto, Pa., Scanlon appeared in 17 games over from 2021-25 for the Red Flash, missing 2023-24 and much of 2024-25 due to injury. He was a three-time of the NEC Winter Honor Roll recipient.
“We are excited to welcome Brendan to our Longwood family,” Lang-Montgomery said. “GAs are special because they often do a lot of the behind the scenes work that goes unnoticed. During the interview process, I was impressed by Brendan’s work ethic and professionalism. He embodied the characteristics of the Right STUPH and I feel he will be a great fit for the direction this program is going.”
A standout guard at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Boalsburg, Pa., Scanlon averaged over 20 points per game in each of his final two seasons with the Wolfpack, leaving as the program leader in points (1,257) and assists with nearly 400.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join Coach Erika and her staff,” Scanlon said,” and very excited for the upcoming season.”
Scanlon, a State College, Pa., native, graduated Saint Francis with a degree in business analytics in 2025.
