Salvato joins Southern Nazarene Women’s Basketball staff

Sydni Salvato has been announced as Southern Nazarene Women’s Basketball’s second Assistant Coach, effective June 1. Salvato joins fellow Assistant Coach Kayla Tucker in their first seasons with the Crimson Storm.

Salvato is no stranger to success, having earned bids to the national tournament in all five seasons serving as an assistant coach.

Most recently, Salvato spent a year at Mid-America Christian University as the Graduate Assistant Coach. While with the Evangels, she helped in all aspects of team operations, as well as served as the Varsity Reserve Head Coach. During her one season with Mid-America Christian, the team experienced its winningest season in program history as they qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for just the second time in history and earned their first ever NAIA Tournament win.

Prior to her time at MACU, Salvato served four years as a student assistant coach at Lubbock Christian University. Her primary roles within the Lubbock Christian program were player development, scouting, and team operations. The team won conference championships all four years she was with the program (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) and three regional championships (2018, 2019, 2021). They also took home the national championship in both 2019 and 2021, becoming the first NCAA DII program to win a national title with an undefeated season.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to join Coach May and Coach Tucker,” said Salvato. “I am excited to learn from their experience and I look forward to being a part of the tremendous culture that has shaped this team and University.”

Salvato graduated from Lubbock Christian with a degree in Exercise and Sport Science and is currently working towards completing her Master’s in Leadership at Mid-America Christian.

She is from Lubbock, Texas and enjoys the outdoors and hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with family.
