Announced by McPherson College Athletic Director Doug Quint, Cy Rolfs has turned in his letter of resignation for the position of Head Women’s Basketball Coach at McPherson College.
"I sincerely want to thank Cy for the job he has done here at McPherson over the last three years, "said Quint. "It certainly has been a pleasure to work with him. As a coach your job is always to leave behind a program better off than the way you found it. Cy definitely has done that. The foundation is there for a bright future and we certainly have Cy to thank for that."
Rolfs was coming off his second consecutive 14-15 season at the helm of the Lady Bulldogs basketball program. The 2012-13 squad finished sixth in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference with a record of 8-10; they had three All-KCAC performers on the roster.
In his three-year career leading MC, Rolfs accumulated a 34-52 record.
"I will be forever grateful to McPherson College for the opportunity they gave me," said Rolfs. "In no way has this decision been easy as the college has provided me with so much. I am thankful for all the quality relationships formed and support I’ve received along the way. Most importantly, I want to thank the young ladies who’ve put so much time into this program. I believe we’ve set a solid foundation for Lady Bulldog basketball and know these young ladies will continue to build on that."
The search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
