Rider Women’s Basketball Adds McKenzie to Coaching Staff

The Rider University women’s basketball team announced the hiring of former standout student-athlete MyNeshia McKenzie as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season. McKenzie returns to the Broncs after a three-year professional playing career and four years coaching collegiately, spending two years at both Holy Family University and St. Joseph’s University.

“I’m extremely excited to be back in Alumni Gym,” said McKenzie. “This place has been home since 2010.”

After graduating in 2014 as the program’s leading rebounder (1,143) and third-leading scorer (1,619), McKenzie

earned All-Import and First-Team All-League honors in her first season with Boa Viagem in Portugal. She led her team in both scoring and rebounding during the 2014-15 season. McKenzie then joined the Phoenix Galati in Romania for the start of the 2015-16 season, earning All-Import and First-Team All-League honors as well as being named the 2016 Forward of the Year.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Mac back to the Lady Bronc family,” said head coach Lynn Milligan. “She is one of our all-time greats and is a winner in every sense. Her experience, work ethic, and passion for this program will shine through and be a huge asset for us moving forward. MyNeshia bleeds cranberry!”

McKenzie transitioned to coaching beginning with the 2017-18 season at Holy Family. During her time with the Tigers, she helped coach a pair of All-Conference athletes.

Most recently, McKenzie spent the past two seasons on the coaching staff at St. Joseph’s (Pa.), where she helped the team secure a first-round bye in the 2021 Atlantic-10 Tournament.

McKenzie was a three-time All-MAAC selection, earning two First Team nods in her junior and senior years. She also took Third Team honors as a sophomore and was selected to the All-Rookie Team as a freshman. She narrowly missed becoming the first player in conference history to average 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in her senior season, finishing 16th nationally in rebounding at 11.1 rpg. to go along with 19.5 points per game. She finished her career with 45 double-doubles, including 19 as a senior. She was named to the MAAC Honor Roll in 2017.

“I’m ready to get to work and continue to build on the success Coach has established over the last decade,” said McKenzie. “In 2010 we talked about hanging banners and I’m back to do that with her.”
