According to a report by the Tennesean, Melanie Balcomb will not return as the head women’s basketball coach at Vanderbilt. Balcomb has compiled a 310-149 during her 14-seasons at Vandy but has averaged just 17-wins over the last three years, while going 5-11 in the SEC for two straight campaigns. Also, this was the first time during Balcomb’s tenure that home attendance dipped below 3,000 fans per game. The timing of the move – almost two full months after the Commodore’s season ended, is a bit curious however. An official announcement is expected later today.
