Palm Beach Atlantic University and Director of Athletics Carolyn Stone has announced the hiring of Manisha Redus as the university’s next women’s basketball coach.
Redus joins the Sailfish after spending the last three years as an assistant at the University of West Georgia. While with the Wolves, she helped the team increase their win total each year, culminating with a 16-win season in 2017-18.
“I am extremely pleased to announce Manisha Redus as the head coach of Sailfish women’s basketball,” said Stone. “Her exceptional experience as both an SEC student athlete and DII coach will provide the leadership and direction we need to move our program forward in the Sunshine State Conference. She is focused on and excited to develop Christian game changers. I know our program will grow spiritually, academically and athletically under her leadership.”
Prior to joining West Georgia, Redus was an assistant coach at the University of Montevallo for two years. She was also a graduate assistant for two seasons at the University of West Alabama.
“I’m so excited, humbled, and blessed to be named the new head women’s basketball coach at Palm Beach Atlantic University,” said Redus. “I would like to thank Carolyn Stone and Courtney Lovely for trusting me with this amazing opportunity and the rest of the PBA athletic department for being so gracious and awesome to get to know throughout this process. I’d also like to thank President Fleming and the leadership at this great University.”
Redus played four years at the University of Alabama from 2000-04, graduating in 2005 with a degree in marketing. She started every game for the Crimson Tide during her junior and senior seasons.
“My family and support system deserve a huge thanks for being by my side during this process; I appreciate all of their constant prayers and words of encouragement. I’ve never lacked support for as long as I’ve been associated with the game of basketball and I know I will have that support as I enter into this next chapter in my journey,” Redus continued. “I’m so excited to get down to PBA and start the process of growing relationships and making this program competitive in the very tough Sunshine State Conference. I’m so anxious to start working with a great group of ladies and being intentional about positively impacting their lives on and off the court. The motto, Developing Christian Game Changers, gets me fired up to provide leadership to a group that will exude hard work and discipline in the classroom, on the court, and in the community.”
She takes over a Sailfish program that just completed their first year as a full member inside the Sunshine State Conference, finishing 4-22 overall and 3-17 in the SSC.
