Reber named head coach at Rosemont

The Rosemont College Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Rayne Reber as the Head Coach of its women’s basketball program, effective immediately. Reber had been one of Rosemont’s assistant coaches since the 2010-2011 season.

Upon learning of her selection to the position, Coach Reber said that she was, "excited to start working with this group of hard-working ladies." Starting off, she is focusing on recruiting, "to get new players into the program. I’m lucky enough to have built relationships with the team and the College since 2010, and I want to expand that to build relationships with our incoming freshmen. I love the Rosemont College family and community and look forward to becoming a bigger part of it."

Announcing the hiring, Rosemont’s Director of Athletics, Lynn Rothenhoefer commented, "We look forward to this next chapter for our women’s basketball program. Rayne comes from strong basketball stock and has been learning since the beginning of her tenure with us as an assistant. She’s ready to work hard in this new step for her and proven that the growth she and the program will be taking is valuable for future success."

As an assistant coach at Rosemont, Reber helped departing Coach Andy McGovern’s team make it to the CSAC playoffs in the last two seasons, in addition to coaching the NCAA DIII 2013 scoring leader and a rising senior who was the nation’s 6th leading scorer and 2nd leading in double-doubles last season. Regarding taking over the reins from McGovern, Reber added, "I am very thankful to Andy McGovern. He was a great mentor to look up to. I learned a lot from him. He wished me a lot of luck and I wish him a lot of luck as our careers move forward."

Prior to taking the coaching position at Rosemont, Coach Reber played at Widener University from 2006-2010, and was selected as the Mid Atlantic Conference Rookie-of-the-Year in the 2006-2007 season.

Reber earned a Masters of Education from Cabrini College after earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree at Widener. She currently teaches 3rd grade in the Chester Community Charter School in Chester, Pa.
