University of Tennessee Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Dave Hart announced that women’s basketball head coach Holly Warlick received a raise and a one-year contract extension.
“Holly has done an outstanding job leading our women’s basketball program the last three years,” Hart said. “She has surrounded herself with a very experienced staff that does a great job developing our student-athletes on and off the court. I am confident we will continue to consistently compete at a championship level under Holly’s leadership.”
The Lady Vols finished 30-6 overall and 15-1 in the SEC in 2014-15, tying for the SEC regular-season championship and advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight for the second time in three seasons. During Warlick’s three-year tenure, Tennessee is 86-20 overall and 42-6 in league play, winning two regular season league titles and one SEC tournament crown.
A promotion for Kyra Elzy also was announced. The former Lady Vol standout, who is entering her fourth season on the UT staff, was promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach.
Elzy, a 1999 UT graduate who played collegiately from 1996-2001, has been an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator on Warlick’s staff since April 26, 2012. She returned to her alma mater after a four-year stint at the University of Kentucky and also had previous stops at Kansas, Western Kentucky and Virginia Tech.
“I’ve known Kyra since her playing days here, and her commitment to our program is obvious,” Warlick said. “She has done a tremendous job as our recruiting coordinator, and she is relentless in aiding our program’s pursuit of excellence. I truly appreciate her passion and drive for Lady Vol basketball.”
