Head coach Tajama Abraham Ngongba announced Wednesday evening the hiring of Lindsay Walter as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Radford women’s basketball staff.
This past season, Walter served on the women’s basketball staff at the University of Miami. As a graduate assistant for the Hurricanes, who captured the ACC regular season crown and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Spokane, Wash., Walter acted as a liaison between the basketball and business offices.
Among other responsibilities, Walter provided administrative assistance to coaches and support staff, assisted in the coordination of all aspects of travel, managed inventory and equipment for players and staff, filmed practices and scrimmages for coaches to cut and review, and planned special events for a multitude of Miami athletic programs.
Before working in South Beach, Walter was an assistant coach at Central Penn College in Summerdale, Pa. Duties included organizing and creating practice plans to prepare the team for the next opponent, coaching forwards and post players to further develop their skills, implementing a preseason conditioning program, recruiting future student-athletes and arranging team travel.
Additional basketball experiences include working as a skills and development coach, a game day and events operations intern with the Harrisburg Horizon basketball team, and a special event assistant at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn.
While in eastern Tennessee, Walter served as camp coordinator under legendary women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt, who won eight national titles and set the mark for the most wins by any coach (male or female) in her career at Tennessee.
Walter graduated from Tennessee in May 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in education-sport management. She obtained her master’s degree in education-sport administration from Miami (Fla.) earlier this month.
