Principia College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Colie Bushong Announces Decision to Pursue Other Endeavors

Principia College Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Colie Bushong announced that she would be leaving at the end of this school year to pursue other endeavors.

Coach Bushong has been the head coach since 2011, and was the assistant women’s basketball coach for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and she has made a very positive impact on the program and the players that have come through Principia College!  Her ability to connect with the players and the passion she feels for the sport make her a great coach, and she will be greatly missed!

Colie has recently taken on the duties of an assistant Sports Information Director (SID) in addition to coaching for the Women’s Basketball Team.  She is a huge help when our SID is in season as a volleyball coach.  She helps with photography, creating info-graphics, social media content, stat crew and posting results.  We couldn’t be more grateful for her help in this role!

Athletic Director Lee Ellis comments, “I think Colie is a terrific young coach.  I’ve been inspired with how she works with basketball players individually.  Having experience as a basketball coach myself, I know how challenging it can be to connect with young players.  My observation is that she has done a very good job- in particular the 1 on 1 instruction.  I can see a difference in the games and I am sure that the players feel the same way.   Colie is looking to change careers- possibly into the Sports Information Field, and I can imagine that she will be successful in any endeavor that she chooses.  Principia has been grateful to have her as a coach.”
