From great sources…it sounds like the search to replace Sherri Murrell at Portland State is winding down. I have heard that the final group may be at 4-5 candidates. The three names that I have heard the most here are:

• Cody Butler – Assistant Coach Boise State. Just wrapped up his third year at BSU. Had a very successful run as the head coach at Yakima Valley CC. Was reportedly a finalist at Southern Utah last year.

• Mike Meek – Head Coach George Fox. Led his team to the NCAA DIII title game, where they lost their only game of the season (32-1). Is 130-20 in his five seasons at George Fox. Was a long-time HS coach in Oregon before coming to GFU.

• Ryan McCarthy – Head Coach Alaska-Anchorage. WBCA NCAA Div. II West Region Coach of the Year this season. Led his team to a 29-2 record – is 65-21 during his 3 seasons at UAA. Was also the head coach at Northwest Nazarene (ID).
