Rhode Island College has named Dino Porcic as an assistant women’s basketball coach. Porcic will assist Head Coach Jenna Cosgrove with all phases of the RIC women’s basketball program.
“I would like to thank Coach Cosgrove for giving me this amazing opportunity to be a part of such a great community,” Porcic said. “Rhode Island College has showed importance in both academics and athletics and holds high standards, which made my decision a no-brainer. I cannot wait to get started with the young group of women we have and work to our ultimate goal and that’s to bring some hardware to Rhode Island College.”
“I am so excited to welcome Dino to the RIC family,” Cosgrove said. “Dino has established himself as a great coach and New England recruiter, which has been evident in the uprise of his AAU program. He will be a great addition to the program and I’m eager for him to start his college coaching journey with the Anchorwomen.”
Porcic played basketball for Putnam High School for three seasons (’09, ’11, ’12), while spending his sophomore season (’10) at Putnam Science Academy. He surpassed the 1,000-point milestone with the Clippers, finishing with 1,300 points in three seasons. After graduation, Porcic continued his athletic career at Nichols College.
He previously served as an assistant coach at Putnam High School on Shawn Deary’s staff for five seasons. Porcic is currently the Director of College Recruitment and the Head Coach of Mass Elite’s 17u team, one of the top programs in the region.
In addition to his coaching duties, he is a permanent substitute teacher at Putnam High School.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Nichols College in 2016.
