Parsons hired as new Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Wisconsin-Superior

Following a national search, the University of Wisconsin-Superior and Yellowjacket Athletics have announced Eveline Parsons as its new women’s basketball coach in a release Friday. She becomes the ninth coach in program history, dating back to the program’s inception in the 1976-77 season.

“I am beyond excited to join the Yellowjacket family and lead the women’s basketball program at UW-Superior,” Parsons said. “I would like to thank Nick Bursik and the committee for the opportunity to be part of a culture that values community and relationships in addition to competitive excellence. I can’t wait to connect with the team and begin this new journey together.”

Parsons arrives in Superior after serving as an assistant coach at UW-Stevens Point for the previous three seasons. There she was tasked with coordinating the recruiting efforts of the Pointers while playing a pivotal role in practice planning, budget management, and overall function of the program.

This past year Parsons contributed to UW-Stevens Point returning to the NCAA Tournament since the 2015-16 campaign, collecting 18 wins and receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll on numerous occasions. Before her time with UWSP, Parsons spent a pair of seasons with NCAA Division II Tusculum, spending a year as a graduate assistant before being promoted to assistant coach/head JV coach.

In addition to her coaching stints, Parsons has sharpened her player development skills through various camps and clinics throughout the youth and high school levels.

A native of Metarie, La., Parsons was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at NCAA Division III Berry. She picked up a pair of SAA All-Conference Honorable Mention nods on her way to finishing in the top ten in career points, assists, steals, and three pointers.

“We are excited to welcome Eveline to UW-Superior and have her lead our women’s basketball program,” Director of Athletics Nick Bursik said. “Her commitment to building a championship culture and providing a holistic student-athlete experience was evident throughout our search process. We look forward to seeing her make an immediate impact and continuing the growth of our program.”

Parson’s first day with the women’s basketball program will be June 16.
