Oxenrider Named Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at North Florida

North Florida women’s basketball head coach Darrick Gibbs names Kayla Oxenrider as assistant coach for the 2018-2019 season.

Oxenrider spent the last three years at Austin Peay serving as the associate head women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator.

“I’m excited that Kayla has decided to join us here at North Florida. She has established herself as a tireless recruiter who is passionate about building relationships,” said Gibbs. “With her work ethic and drive, Kayla will have a tremendous impact in our program both on the court and with recruiting young ladies that will help us continue to grow this program.”

An assistant coach at the collegiate level for five seasons, Oxenrider joins the Ospreys with a wide scope of experience. Shortly after beginning her career at Albright College, Oxenrider transitioned to St. Francis (Pa.) as assistant women’s basketball coach in 2014. After developing one All-Conference first team player and one professional athlete during her time there, she then brought her talents to Austin Peay where after her first season she was promoted to associate head coach.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity that Coach Gibbs has given me to be a part of this program,” said Oxenrider. “I truly believe in the vision that this staff and entire athletic department has to be great and I’m thankful to be a part of it.”

Oxenrider, a native of Ashland, Penn., began her coaching career as at Albright College in 2013 shortly after graduating from Bloomsburg University with an education degree. She was a four-year starter at Bloomsburg where she compiled an overall record of 88-29 and started all 117 career games. Oxenrider finished her career as a Husky with 1,327 points – eighth all-time in program history.

Coming off of the program’s first ASUN semifinal appearance since 2013, North Florida begins its fourth season under Gibbs in November.
