Overstreet promoted to Women’s Basketball Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Alabama Huntsville

The University of Alabama in Huntsville Director of Athletics Dr. Cade Smith announced the promotion of Kyle Overstreet to Associate Head Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the UAH women’s basketball program.

Overstreet earns the promotion after joining the Chargers prior to the 2024-25 season as an assistant coach. Since arriving at UAH, he has helped the program build on one of the most successful stretches in school history, contributing to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Gulf South Conference regular-season championship, NCAA regional hosting duties, a regional championship and a Final Four appearance during the 2025-26 season. In 2024-25, UAH also reached the NCAA Tournament and finished as GSC runner-up.

“I am incredibly grateful to Coach Sharpe, Dr. Smith, Dr. Cole and our players for their support and belief in me. It is an honor to continue serving this program, our student-athletes and our staff in this new role. I am excited for the opportunity to keep growing as a leader and coach while helping UAH women’s basketball continue to build on the success we have achieved.”

In his new role as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, Overstreet will assist with offensive and defensive strategy, support defensive scouting, lead recruiting efforts, and oversee skill development and athletic aid.

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Overstreet earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Alabama. He and his wife, Virginia, reside in Huntsville with their son, Julius.
