Old Westbury Names Naomi Augustin Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

Naomi Augustin has been named SUNY Old Westbury assistant women’s basketball coach ahead of the 2016-17 season, announced by head coach Michael Krasnoff.

“I am thrilled to continue my coaching career at such a reputable academic and athletic institution where tremendous excitement surrounds the future of women’s basketball,” said Augustin.  “I look forward to contributing to the Panthers’ tradition of excellence on and off the court, and I’m honored to be a part of the continued success at Old Westbury.”

Augustin had previously served as a volunteer assistant coach at Adelphi University during the 2015-16 season, where she helped the Panthers to an 18-12 record en route to a Northeast-10 Conference Championship appearance.

“I am excited to add Augustin to my staff,” Krasnoff said.  “Her knowledge of the game will help grow our program and allow our student-athletes to maximize their potential in all facets of life.”

Prior to her stint at Adelphi, Augustin spent 2013-15 as assistant coach at City College of New York.  She played a role in player development, academic support and recruitment during her time at CCNY.

In 2012, Augustin returned to her alma mater in the capacity of assistant varsity coach at Valley Stream Central High School.  At Valley Stream Central, Augustin was responsible for post-player development, scouting reports and monitoring study sessions.

She also served as head coach for the 10th grade Long Island Lightning AAU program from 2011-12.

Augustin played four seasons (2006-10) at Wagner College, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2010.  She played in 71 games for the Seahawks, and was a four-year member of Wagner’s Student Athletics Club and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  Following her playing career, Augustin spent the 2011-12 season as Wagner’s team manager.
