Head Coach Lauren Sumski and the women’s basketball coaching staff are pleased to announce the promotion of Jacob Ogle to Assistant Coach and Director of Operations. Ogle decided to stay at Lipscomb despite having several collegiate opportunities at the men’s and women’s levels.
Coach Sumski commented on the hire, saying, “We are thrilled to keep another Bison in the Herd! Jacob dedicated countless hours to the program in any capacity required. He demonstrated great initiative and capability in an operational capacity, and he showed a true understanding of the game and our system.”
In just a year, he has been a tremendous asset to the program, served in several areas behind the scenes, and built relationships across campus. Ogle was a student assistant for the Bisons for the past year. As a student assistant, he was instrumental in advanced opponent scouting, video coordination, stats and analytics, and player development.
Before Lipscomb, Ogle served in multiple capacities at Nashville Christian School, including an assistant coach opportunity for the middle and high school boys’ basketball teams and the head coach for the middle school’s junior varsity team.
While coaching at Nashville Christian, he was also heavily involved with skill development in the Nashville area, working with Lipscomb alum Andrew Fleming.
Ogle prepped at Nashville Christian, where he was a part of two district and sectional championship teams and helped his team to their first state tournament appearance since 1981.
“He’s a tireless worker, extremely detailed, and was able to help our program in our record-setting season behind the scenes. He’s a sponge and as passionate about growing the game of basketball as they come.”
Sumski concluded by saying, “Beyond that, he truly embodies what it means to be a Bison and has built a special rapport within our program and department. “He’s a special young coach with many unique experiences that have already brought value to our program. We are excited to watch him continue to learn and grow.”
