I mentioned this as a rumor earlier in the week. Just wanted to pass along the official press release now that it is official…
Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has announced Addae Houston of Cameron, MO as the Spartans’ next head women’s basketball coach and residence hall coordinator.
Houston completed a bachelor’s degree in social science education as well as a master’s degree in health and physical education from Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU). After completing his degrees, Houston was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL before returning to his alma mater to join the women’s basketball program as an assistant coach. While on the coaching staff at NWMSU, he helped propel the women’s basketball team to the NCAA Division II Tournament Final Four while setting a single season school record with 29 wins.
As coach, Houston will also bring four years of collegiate basketball playing experience to SWCC. He played both at Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, TX and at NWMSU. As a player, his teams reached the NJCAA National Tournament Elite Eight and the NCAA Division II Tournament South Central Regional Championship game.
Prior to employment at SWCC, Houston was employed by Cameron High School District in Cameron, MO as the In-School Suspension Liaison, as well as the assistant coach of the varsity boys’ basketball team and the head coach of the freshmen boys’ basketball team. He will be on campus during the last week of March and will assume official duties at SWCC when he has fulfilled his current obligations.
