Oberlin adds assistant

Oberlin College women’s basketball coach Kerry Jenkins announced University of Akron graduate Jasmine Mushington as his assistant coach for the 2012-13 season.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Mushington graduated from Akron in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, human resource management. While attending Akron, Mushington was a four-year letter-winner for the women’s basketball team.

Mushington was a key contributer for the Zips off the bench in her first three years at Akron. Her junior year, Mushington was named the MAC Co-Sixth Player of the Year. In her senior year, Mushington was a starter and co-captain for the Zips, starting in 17 of 30 games. Her other career numbers at Akron include 18 starts, 120 games played, 769 points, and 305 rebounds.

Mushington’s time at Akron also included service in the community, working with projects such as, the Children’s Hospital cancer sports week and the Woodmore Elementary School reading program.

Prior to Oberlin, Mushington was the head coach of the eighth grade Ohio Extreme AAU girl’s basketball team.
