Uchenna Faumuina-Eze is entering his first year as the head coach for the Northern Virginia Community College women’s basketball team in 2014-15. Last season he served as the assistant coach.
Before coming to NOVA, he spent eight years coaching high school basketball in Virginia, most recently as the assistant girl’s basketball coach at Hylton High School (2010-13). Prior to his stint at Hylton, Faumuina-Eze spent two years (2008-10) as the Notre Dame Academy’s head coach. He lead Notre Dame Academy to the postseason in both seasons.
A 1994 graduate from Hanau American High School, Germany, Faumuina-Eze attended Ellison High School in Killeen, Texas playing for former Coach Billy Gillispie. He went on to start his college playing career at the University of Maryland- Mannheim Campus where he lead the team in scoring and rebounds, before enlisting in the United States Air Force. While enlisted, Faumuina-Eze deployed on numerous assignments, and played on the All Base Basketball team and was an All-Air Force Basketball candidate.
A resident of Honolulu, Hawaii, Faumuina-Eze graduated from Southern Virginia University in 2006, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Recreation Administration. He received his masters in Sports Administration from American Military University in 2011. Faumuina-Eze resides in Prince William County, VA., with his family.
