Northwestern women’s basketball head coach Joe McKeown announced today the addition of Tiffany Coppage to his coaching staff.
“We are really excited to announce Tiffany Coppage as our new assistant coach,” McKeown said. “She brings great experience and energy to Northwestern and understands what it takes to be part of a winning program.”
Coppage spent the last three seasons as the assistant coach at Northern Iowa. In the 2015-16 season, Coppage helped the Panthers to a regular season title in the Missouri Valley Conference, an appearance in the third round of the WNIT and 24 wins, the second-most in program history.
“At Northern Iowa, Tiffany was part of championship teams, and she brings strong teaching skills and recruiting ties to the Wildcats,” McKeown said. “After a nationwide search, it was clear that Tiffany emerged as the best candidate to help us reach our goals both on and off the court.”
Before working at Northern Iowa, Coppage was an assistant coach at Western Illinois University in 2012-13 and the recruiting coordinator for the Leathernecks the previous year. In 2010-11, Coppage was a graduate assistant coach at Wichita State.
“I am extremely excited to be joining the Wildcat family. Northwestern is an exceptional institution with great prestige and it’s in one of the best conferences in the country,” Coppage said. “I can’t wait to get to Evanston and hit the ground running. I look forward to all that lies ahead and am beyond grateful for the opportunity that Coach McKeown has afforded me.”
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Coppage spent two years at Fort Scott Community College as a student-athlete before finishing her playing career at Missouri State. Coppage started both seasons and was a two-year team captain for the Lady Bears.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in General Business from Missouri State in 2009 and her master’s degree in Sports Management from Wichita State in December 2011.
