North Florida adds Dixon as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

North Florida women’s basketball announces its third and final assistant coach for the 2024-25 season with the hiring of Chris Dixon to finish out the Osprey coaching staff, as announced by head coach Erika Lambert on Friday afternoon.

“Chris [Dixon] was such a great addition to our program this summer! He is an experienced assistant coach with a fantastic reputation and valuable recruiting connections across the Southeast region,” said Lambert. “He’s a tireless worker who isn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves in a rebuilding situation. Chris is passionate, competitive, and selfless. He will be working primarily with our point guards. I’m very thankful to have the Dixon family join us in Jax!”

Dixon comes to UNF after spending the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Palm Beach Atlantic. He will join Sydnei McCaskill and Gadiva Hubbard as assistant coaches, while Tron Griffin serves as associate head coach under Lambert’s second year at the helm of the program.

“I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to be joining Coach Lambert and her staff along with Osprey nation,” said Dixon. “My family and I are thrilled about this new chapter in our lives here in Jacksonville. I look forward to building and cultivating relationships in our locker room and in the UNF community, while competing on a nightly basis against an extremely-talented ASUN Conference.”

In his first season as an assistant with PBA, Dixon helped the team make it to the SSC Tournament for the first time in program history, as well as a championship game appearance, during the 2020-21 COVID-shortened season. In 2022-23, he assisted the Sailfish into double-digit wins for the first time since 2015-16 and the first time since joining the Sunshine State Conference.

In 2023-24, Dixon was a part of Palm Beach Atlantic’s best season in program history with a 15-14 overall record. He also elevated his student-athletes to four SSC All-Conference distinctions, five CSC/CoSIDA Academic All-District selections and nine weekly conference honorees.

Before his time in West Palm Beach, Fla., Dixon had previous stops at Francis Marion, Georgia State and Armstrong State’s women’s basketball programs, as each were over the course of one season. He served as an assistant coach & recruiting coordinator for Francis Marion, volunteered as a player development coach for Georgia State and was also a student coach with his alma mater of Armstrong State.

Dixon attended Armstrong State University, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Health Science with an emphasis in Human Performance Management. He and his wife, Briana, have two children, Ariana and Chris Jr.
