Nicholls State hires assistant

Nicholls State University women’s basketball has hired Kris Goff as an assistant coach pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors, head coach DoBee Plaisance announced Wednesday.

Goff, a native of Walker, La., joins the Colonel coaching staff after spending one season under the same title at Southeastern Louisiana University. At SLU, Goff’s duties involved player development, of which, Southeastern produced two All-Southland Conference players during his tenure. Other responsibilities included, but not limited to, team travel, Academic oversight, recruiting, team scouting and practice planning.

"Kris brings energy and enthusiasm. His coaching skill set compliments what Justin and I have been cultivating within the team," Coach Plaisance said. "He appreciates what it means to be a part of Nicholls and will be a tremendous asset to our program".

While completing his undergraduate degree at Southeastern, Goff coached at Denham Springs Jr. High. Following his graduation he coached in the high school ranks at Albany and Springfield, before his stint with the Lady Lion program. He served as varsity head coach for the boys and girls basketball teams at Albany High School after one season as an assistant varsity coach at Springfield High.

Goff was also active in the AAU circuit. He coached with the Mardi Gras Gators and Louisiana Lady Select garnishing him national exposure.
