NCCU Women’s Basketball Adds Beaulieu to Staff

North Carolina Central University fourth-year head women’s basketball coach Trisha Stafford-Odom has named Jason Beaulieu Director of Player Enhancement.

Beaulieu comes to the Eagles after spending the past 10 seasons as the strength and conditioning coach for the University of North Carolina women’s basketball program.

“Jason Beaulieu is the much-needed addition to my coaching staff,” Stafford-Odom said. “His immediate strengths elevate and sharpen the overall preparation and production of each player. He brings a wealth of diversified Division I experience and professionalism, most recently from the highly-respected Power 5 university in Chapel Hill. His personality embodies commitment, work ethic and total dedication to the wellbeing of the student-athlete. I am utterly impressed and in awe of the command Coach JB has on athletes.”

Beaulieu enters his 24th year as a certified strength and conditioning coach. Before working with the Tar Heels for the past decade, he was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Delaware. Beaulieu also spent time as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning coach at the University of Kansas, Director of Athletic Performance at Velocity Sports Performance in both Baltimore, Maryland, and Alexandria, Virginia; and was the Head Strength and Conditioning coach and coordinator of Physical Education at St. Stephens and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia.

“When it comes to elite experiences, I am a witness to how Coach JB takes the time to customize and cater to the individual’s physical, nutritional, preventative, and recovery needs while under his care,” Stafford-Odom said. “Who Jason Beaulieu is complements the competitive and prideful atmosphere we have created in our women’s basketball bubble here at NC Central. The most impressive part of Coach JB is the energy he willingly gives to be great at his assignment. I am jubilant to be able to have such a quality person, family man, and qualified coach on my staff.”

A native of West Chester, Pa., Beaulieu is a 1996 graduate from the University of Delaware. He was a four-year letterman as a midfielder for the Delaware men’s lacrosse team from 1993-96, serving as co-captain as a senior. He led the nationally-ranked Blue Hens to North Atlantic Conference titles in 1993 and 1994. Beaulieu earned his degree in physical education studies with a concentration in strength and conditioning.

Beaulieu is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified club coach through USA Weightlifting.
