Baltimore City Community College has tabbed Rachel Naughton as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
Coach Naughton comes to BCCC from Delaware but is a native of Queens, New York. She played her college ball at Borough of Manhattan CC where her skills were quickly recognized by recruiters at St. Paul’s College in Virginia. At St Paul’s, Coach Naughton earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree with a concentration in Law and Political Science. She continued her studies at Virginia Commonwealth University where she earned a Master’s in Sports Management. After her playing career, Coach Naughton began coaching first at her alma mater then at high-schools in Richmond, Virginia and the Delaware area. Her team at Smyrna High-School won back to back conference and division championships.
Director of Athletics, Dr. Pope believes Coach Naughton is what we need in a leader to rebuild the program because she has the practical skills to get on the floor and demonstrate what is needed to win”. “She also has the passion necessary to recruit and lead the Lady Panthers back to the National championship Tournament”. Coach Naughton says ” I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’m excited because I know there is talent here”.
The first task for Coach Naughton is fielding a team in quick fashion. The coach will be holding tryouts ASAP. Women who are interested in representing the Panthers and believe they have skills should stop by the Physical Education Center and show their Panther moves.
