NAIA NEWS: Pringle Jr. resigns as Women’s Basketball Head Coach at Bethel College

The Bethel College Athletic Department has announced the resignation of Derrick Pringle Jr., head women’s basketball coach.

Derrick expressed a heartfelt reflection on his time at Bethel when announcing his resignation, “As I reflect on the past two years, it has been an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to pour into students’ lives, work with fantastic staff and faculty, and make life-long friends.”

Pringle Jr. joined the Threshers in the spring of 2021 after 14 years at the helm of Simpson University in California.

“I’m thankful for the impact Derrick had on our women’s basketball program,” Interim Director of Athletics Collin Loutensock stated. “We brought Derrick on board in a time when this program needed a leader and someone to right their culture, he was successful in both.”

During his two and a half years as Bethel’s leader, Pringle Jr. coached four all-conference honorees and led the team to a KCAC Conference Tournament appearance.

The program broke seven records under his guidance as well.

“I want to thank Bethel College for the opportunity,” Pringle Jr. stated. “I am beyond grateful for my time here and I wish nothing but the best to the community here at Bethel.”

A national search for the next head women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
