Murillo resigns as Women’s Basketball Coach at NAIA Baker University

After four seasons leading the program, Torie Murillo announced her resignation as Baker head women’s basketball coach.

“We appreciate Coach Murillo’s time and commitment to our women’s basketball program over the past four seasons,” Baker Director of Athletics Susan Decker said. “We thank her for her support of the university and our student-athletes and wish her the very best moving forward.”

Murillo compiled a 31-78 overall record during her tenure, highlighted by a 14-14 mark and a Heart Conference Tournament appearance in her first season in 2022-23. The Wildcats narrowly missed the conference tournament last year, finishing one spot short despite winning six of their final eight games in an incredible second-half turnaround.

This past season, Baker went 4-23 overall and posted a 2-18 record in conference play. First-year guard Gabby Rose was named to the All-Heart Second Team after leading the Wildcats in scoring by averaging 14.4 points per game.

A national search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.
