MTSU assistant resigns

Middle Tennessee assistant women’s basketball coach Lynn Burkey has resigned from his position to accept the head coaching job at Middle Tennessee Christian School, a private institution in Murfreesboro.

Burkey spent the last two years (2010-11 and 2011-12) with the Blue Raiders, helping guide the program to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and Sun Belt East Division titles. Middle Tennessee was 49-15 overall and 30-2 in the conference during his tenure. He oversaw the scouting of each opponent, assisted in scheduling and helped with on-court play calling.

Burkey returns to the high school ranks, where he served for two years at his alma mater, Greeneville High School in Greeneville, Tenn., before succeeding Insell at Shelbyville Central High School in Shelbyville, Tenn., for five seasons prior to joining the Blue Raiders.
