Monmouth University Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jody Craig has resigned, effective immediately, university officials announced Wednesday.
“I would like to thank Jody for her dedication to the Monmouth Women’s Basketball program for the last four years,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil. “We are looking forward to finding the next coach that will continue to move this program towards our goals of winning a conference title and beyond.”
Craig joined the Monmouth Women’s Basketball staff in June 2017, and assumed head coaching responsibilities on December 8, 2017. In three and a half seasons, she registered a record of 33-69, including 23-46 in MAAC play.
During her first full season in 2018-19, Craig led the Hawks to their highest MAAC finish (4th), earning a first-round bye. Monmouth later advanced to the MAAC Semifinals for the second time in six seasons after defeating #5 Canisius, 64-53.
The Irvine, CA native won three total games at the MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship, including a 61-58 win over #8 Canisius in 2017-18 and a 69-60 victory over #7 Iona in 2019-20.
Throughout her tenure, Craig guided her student-athletes to an All-MAAC Second Team honor, two MAAC All-Rookie Team selections, and a MAAC All-Tournament Team recognition.
Associate head coach James Young will serve as the team’s interim head coach as a nationwide search will begin.
