Central Oklahoma Vice President for Athletics Stan Wagnon announced Wednesday Hannah Moeller as the new head women’s basketball coach for the Bronchos.
Moeller spent the previous nine seasons as head coach at Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City. She brings a 305-102 career record to UCO, having eclipsed the 20-win mark in each of her eight full seasons with the Evangels and going 9-3 in a COVID-shortened campaign.
“Hannah Moeller is a winner,” Wagnon said. “We set out to hire a coach who is reflective of UCO and will add to the momentum that our great university has in Edmond, the OKC metro and throughout the state. I literally could not be happier than to have this search result in Hannah becoming a Broncho and joining our team. She’s going to shine.
“I’m grateful to Deputy AD Chandler Short for her leadership and assistance in this search process,” Wagnon added. “With her help, we are building something special and adding value to an already accomplished Athletics Department.”
“I am excited to work with Hannah and her staff as they lead our women’s basketball program,” Short said. “Throughout the process, her passion for developing young women both on and off the court was evident, and I have no doubt she will make an immediate and positive impact on our players and staff. Hannah is a proven winner, family-oriented and community-minded, all of which will help her generate enthusiasm among our fans as she works to lead our program to MIAA and national prominence.”
“I am completely humbled to be the leader of the UCO women’s basketball program,” Moeller said. “I want to thank President Todd Lamb and VP of Athletics Stan Wagnon for their belief and trust in me. I also want to thank Dr. Chandler Short for her consistent support throughout the process.
“We are extremely excited to get on campus and get to work,” Moeller continued. “We will hit the ground sprinting and do everything in our power to make UCO women’s basketball an immense source of pride for the University and the city of Edmond. UCO is an incredibly special place with amazing leadership. I can not wait to get ROLLing!”
Moeller will be officially introduced at a press conference on Thursday, April 10, at 11 a.m. on the UCO campus. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Moeller began her coaching career as an assistant for MACU in 2010 and spent one season as the associate head coach at Randall University before being named head coach there. Moeller won 105 games in four seasons (2012-16) leading Randall before taking the head coaching job at MACU.
There, Moeller would become the winningest coach in school history, racking up accolades from 2016-17 through this past season. Moeller won NCCAA national titles in 2018 and 2019 and has qualified for the NAIA national tournament in each of the previous four seasons. Moeller has also won two regional championships and is a three-time NCCAA Coach of the Year winner.
Moeller also has claim to exhibition victories against one Division I school and five DII schools during her time as an NAIA head coach.
Moeller, originally from Edmond and a graduate of Edmond Memorial, played college basketball at Rogers State where she was a 2009 NAIA Academic All-American and the RSU Female Student-Athlete of the Year.
“In Hannah, we are getting not only a hard worker with a competitive spirit that will yield results on the playing floor, but also we are getting someone who is connected and capable to capitalize on the vast opportunities associated with leading a program at UCO. I look forward to welcoming Hannah, her husband Marcus and two children into the Broncho family,” Wagnon said.
Central Oklahoma women’s basketball has 729 all-time victories in more than 50 seasons, with five appearances in the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2017).
