Milton Named Interim Coach at McMurry University

McMurry University has announced that William Milton will serve as the interim head coach for its women’s basketball program for the 2014-15 season. Milton served as the War Hawks’ assistant coach in 2013-14.

"When we looked at the time frame we were working under, this seemed the best and most fair decision for our current players," said McM director of athletics Sam Ferguson. "With the school year already upon us and the season just around the corner, the team deserves to have some continuity at this time.

"We will re-open a national search in February of 2015."

Milton has a diverse background in basketball in both coaching and player development. He has coached at several levels that include being a head coach at Notre Dame High School (Wichita Falls, Texas). He has also served as a college assistant at Frank Phillips College (Borger, Texas), Hill College (Hillsboro, Texas), and Midwestern State University (Wichita Falls, Texas), before his service at McMurry.

"I’m very excited and blessed to have the opportunity to serve the McMurry Family as the interim head coach of the women’s basketball program," said Milton. "I believe our team needs someone who will be passionate about the program and who will help them reach all of their goals as scholar-athletes – in the classroom, in the community, as well as on the basketball court. I’m looking forward to filling this important role and I’m appreciative of the opportunity!"

Milton earned his undergraduate degree as a Sport Fitness and Management major at Midwestern State University in 2007.
