Miles Community College (MCC) announced that Mark Graupe has been named as the head coach of the women’s basketball program.
Graupe comes to MCC after spending the 2021-22 season as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, where they ended the season with a 29-5 record and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament. He spent the previous eight years coaching college basketball in North Dakota, beginning at Dickinson State University as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach (2013-2017), before landing at Minot State University as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach (2017-2021).
“We are so excited to have Coach Graupe’s talent here at MCC,” stated MCC Athletic Director Jerry Olson. “Mark has great experience taking schools to national tournaments, and we’re really excited to bring Mark on campus to start recruiting.”
After graduating from University of North Dakota in 1987, Graupe began his career coaching high school basketball throughout North Dakota before being hired as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake in 2001. After leaving Lake Region in 2008, he spent time at Colorado State University as the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations and Dartmouth College as the Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach.
In 1998, Graupe published a book titled “Basketball Drills and More”.
“We look forward to elevating our women’s basketball program and their success,” commented Olson, “and hope to capitalize on Coach Graupe’s experiences in both the NJCAA, NCAA, and NAIA divisions.”
