Central Michigan women’s basketball coach Heather Oesterle has named Sarah Miles to an assistant coaching position on her staff.
Miles previously served as an assistant coach at Northwestern State (La.) (2019-20) and Colorado State Pueblo (2017-19).
“I’m excited to add Sarah to our staff,” said Oesterle, the 2019-20 MAC Coach of the Year. “Her and I hit it off from the first conversation we had. Sarah was a tremendous college player and she’s going to be a star in the coaching world. She also fills a void I thought we were losing with (Murriel) Page leaving as far as having professional playing experience and she can help our players navigate through agents and contracts when they graduate. I’m grateful to Page, as she was a crucial player in us finding and getting Sarah to join our staff.”
From 2016-17, Miles was a graduate assistant at her alma mater, West Virginia, helping the Mountaineers to win the Big 12 Tournament championship. She also worked as an instructor at High Octane Performance Skills in San Antonio, Texas in 2014, where she developed athletes who would go on to play at Duke and Texas Tech.
Miles was a four-year player on the women’s basketball team at WVU, earning the Big East Most Improved Player Award (2008-09) and Big East Defensive Player of the Year honors (2009-10). She was also named to the All-Big East Tournament Team and Second Team All-Big East as a junior, leading the Mountaineers to a 29-6 record.
Miles also played professionally for a season for Forssa Finland, receiving All-Finnish League Honorable Mention recognition while helping her team reach the league semifinals.
Miles holds a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies, with a focus in entrepreneurship, public relations and communications, and a master’s degree in athletic coaching education, both from West Virginia University.
