Mike Karon Named Women’s Basketball DBO at Boston University

Mike Karon, who has served as the Boston University women’s basketball director of operations in an interim capacity since October, has officially been named the team’s director of operations, as announced by head coach Katy Steding.

“I am really thrilled that we were able to keep Mike on our staff!” exclaimed Steding. “He has been a real pleasure to work with and has been integral to our successful Patriot League run this season.”

Prior to Karon’s time in Boston, he served as a student manage for the James Madison women’s basketball team for two years, where he assisted the coaching staff with all aspects of practice, team equipment, filming and travel. While in Harrisonburg, Karon also was an intramural sports site manager for one year.

Karon got his start working in basketball as a college league dean at Camp Manitou for Boy located in Oakland, Maine for three summers, and spent the following summer as a coach at Linx Camps based in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

“I’m very excited to join the staff here at BU,” stated Karon. “The past six months working with them has been great. I’m excited to continue working with the staff, the team and next year as well.”

Karon graduated from James Madison with a bachelors of science in sports and recreation management in 2016.
