Megan Shoniker Named Binghamton University Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach

The Bingh amton women’s basketball program has announced the hiring of Megan Shoniker as an assistant coach. She is the first coach to officially join the staff of Bethann Shapiro Ord, who was hired as the Bearcats’ new head coach on June 22.

Shoniker comes from Canisius, where she was a member of the Golden Griff staff the past four seasons. She was promoted to Associate Head Coach prior to the 2017-18 season and also served as the recruiting coordinator.

From 2012-14, Shoniker was a staff associate at St. John Fisher College. She assisted with player development, recruiting and video operations while also completing her Master’s degree in special education.

“Megan is an excellent recruiter and we are excited to have her join our staff,” “She has forged outstanding relationships with people the New York and Northeast regions. She also has an ability to connect with players and get the most out of them on the court. She will be a great addition to our staff.”

A 2011 graduate of Rhode Island, Shoniker was a two-time team captain and finished her career with 1,318 points. She earned All-Atlantic 10 Conference honors as a senior.

After her collegiate career, Shoniker played in Belarus with Team Olimpia Grodno where she earned First-Team All-Belarusian League and First-Team All-Import.

A native of Rochester, N.Y., Shoniker graduated from Greece Arcadia High School in 2007 as Monroe County’s all-time leading scorer with 2,216 career points.
