McCook CC names head coach

Jon Froelich has been named the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach at McCook Community College. Coach Froelich will begin his duties officially at MCC on June 3, but since the day he was offered and accepted the position, he has been actively recruiting the returning student-athletes, as well as working the recruiting trail to bring in new student-athletes to MCC. Coach Froelich has over 30 years of experience in the game of basketball and working in the education field.

Coach Froelich is a graduate from Kansas University with a degree in Journalism, and he has a Master’s Degree in Education, School Counseling, from Dallas Baptist University. Coach Froelich has worked camps all over the country, and has accumulated over 750 career wins as a head coach. Coach Froelich has three state championships to his credit, and has taken teams to Germany, Holland, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Australia, and the former Soviet Union.

The past four seasons, Coach Froelich was the head coach at Fort Bend Christian Academy in Sugar Land, Tex. Coach Froelich guided the 2012-2013 team to a 41-4 record and a state runner-up finish. Along with his duties as a women’s basketball coach, Coach Froelich was the head women’s cross country coach and was the Director of Student Enrollment at Fort Bend Christian Academy. Along with his coaching responsibilities at MCC, Coach Froelich will be the Student Success and Retention Coordinator for MCC.

The moment he accepted the position, he was off and running with recruiting, which is the number one priority in a program. Coach Froelich constantly stays in contact with us and the returning student-athletes with phone calls, emails, texts and social media, which shows the work ethic that he has. Coach Froelich brings high level commitment and tremendous success in the past with him to MCC. Coach Froelich will be a big addition to our staff, college, and the community of McCook. I am ready to get started with Coach Froelich on board and I am looking forward to the 2013-2014 season."
