Markell Cox Named Cincinnati Christian Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Cincinnati Christian University is proud to announce the hiring of Markell Cox as the new Head Women’s Basketball Coach.

Markell comes to CCU from Urbana University where he has been an Assistant Basketball Coach for the last two years as well as the Head Women’s Golf Coach. Markell also spent time coaching in the Dayton Lady Hoopstars AAU program. Coach Cox helped turn around Urbana improving the team record from 1-28 to 13-15. Coach Cox spent time as the Head Coach at Clark State Community College before joining the staff at Urbana. Markell also was an Assistant Coach at Southeastern Illinois College. While at Southeastern Illinois the Falcons finished 15-15 after going 0-28 in 2013-14.

Markell is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. He is an alumnus of Middle Tennessee State University where he earned a double-bachelor’s in Physical Education and Business Education.

“The five pillars of our program are God, faith, family, education, and basketball. I would also like to be more involved in the community with our program centered around volunteer work as well as working with the youth of Cincinnati. I also want to incorporate more of a partnership with FCA for our athletes.”

Cox is also a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
