Arriving at Centre College with a background of more than 20 years of coaching experience across many levels, Scot MacAllister has been announced as the Colonels’ assistant women’s basketball coach.

MacAllister comes to Centre from Russell County, where he was the head girls’ basketball coach and led the team to a 16th District runner-up performance and an appearance in the 4th Region Tournament in 2014. Prior to his time at Russell County, he also spent eight years as the head girls’ coach at Logan County and another two as the head coach of the Kentucky Blast AAU program.

MacAllister’s experience dates back to before his time in Kentucky, when he coached for 13 years at the high school and junior college level in California.

MacAllister was among a strong group of more than 100 applicants for the position.

"I am very pleased to have Scot join our staff," said Centre’s head coach Wendie Austin-Robinson. "I am very fortunate to have someone join my staff with his basketball knowledge and experience. He has a great passion for the game and teaching young adults. I am very excited to welcome Scot to Centre and look forward to working with him."

One of MacAllister’s biggest coaching honors came off the floor, however, when he helped organize support among Logan County students at the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16 to cheer on a Magoffin County team whose hometown had been devastated by tornadoes. For those efforts, both schools were awarded the National Federation of High Schools Spirit of Sport Award.

MacAllister takes over the assistant coaching position from Tom Campbell, who accepted the head coaching job at Sewanee after seven years at Centre. MacAllister will look to help the Colonels build on an 18-10 record and an appearance in the Southern Athletic Association championship game in 2014.
