After serving in a graduate assistant role for one season, the Morehead State women’s basketball program has promoted Justin Maass to assistant coach.
He helped the Eagles to a second-place OVC finish in 2018-19 as well as 24 wins and a berth (and victory) in the postseason WNIT.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to expand my role as an assistant coach on Coach (Greg) Todd’s staff,” he said. “I am excited to work with our players both on and off the floor in a manner that continues Morehead State’s winning tradition. I am proud to continue to be an Eagle.”
Prior to arriving at Morehead State, Maass was the varsity assistant coach at Valley Vista High School in Surprise, Ariz. Maass helped lead Valley Vista to back-to-back 6A state titles in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
While at Valley Vista, Maass helped nine players advance to the college level, five of which went to Division I schools. Maass also coached three years of club basketball, coaching for one of the top programs in the state.
“Justin will have a big impact on our program,” said Todd. “He is very organized and a hard worker. Justin has a lot of recruiting connections with his background as a high school and travel coach.”
Maass graduated from Arizona State with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education – history. While in Arizona he also taught high school economics for three years.
