Loyola Marymount announced that head women’s basketball coach Julie Wilhoit will not be retained. In 17 years at the helm of the Lions’ program, Wilhoit compiled a 232-261 overall record and 107-133 mark in West Coast Conference play. She was a three-time WCC Coach of the Year, most recently in 2003-04. That year, the Lions went a season-best 24-6 overall and 13-1 in the WCC, clinching both the league’s regular-season and tournament championship titles. The Lions made two postseason appearances during Wilhoit’s tenure, earning a spot in the WNIT in 2000-01 and advancing to the NCAA Tournament’s field of 64 in 2003-04.
Prior to taking the reins at LMU in 1995, Wilhoit also served as the head coach at University of Pittsburgh-Bradford from 1993-95 and at IUPUI (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) from 1986-91. A search for her replacement will begin immediately.
