– Saint Martin’s Women’s Basketball head coach Christy Martin announced the hiring of Lindsey Foster as the assistant coach for the Saints.
“I am excited to work with Christy Martin and the returning players,” said Foster. “We will be bringing in a new culture and a championship mentality. Martin has built winning programs and I am excited to see how she does it and learn from her. She has a lot to offer and will be able to teach me a lot as I begin my coaching career.”
Foster joins the Saint Martin’s staff after previously serving on the Gonzaga Women’s Basketball coaching staff as a volunteer coach. At Gonzaga, Foster assisted the coaching staff with scouting, recruiting, game statistics and equipment. She also helped organize, recruit, and market Gonzaga’s summer camps. The Zags won 26 games last season, beating Saint Mary’s to win the WCC Tournament to reach the NCAA tournament before falling to Oklahoma in the first round.
“Coach Foster brings a terrific amount of knowledge and expertise to our Women’s basketball program,” said Martin. “Undoubtedly, working and learning from Lisa Fortier who is one of the most respected and successful coaches in basketball will pay off tremendously for our program.”
Before working for Gonzaga, Foster worked for six years at the Basketball Jones Summer Hoop Camp in California, where she directed over 40 camps of youth basketball players.
Foster attended Notre Dame De Namur University and graduated from University of La Verne in 2014. She played basketball for both colleges, earning All-SCIAC first team honors in 2014, along with D3 hoops.com Classic All-Tournament team in 2012, and Bon Appetite All-Tournament team honors in 2013. Foster was named team captain at University of La Verne in her final season.
