Lenoir-Rhyne promotes Sacharski

Lenoir-Rhyne University Head Women’s Basketball Coach Todd Starkey has announced the promotion of Morgan Sacharski to Assistant Coach in 2014-15. Sacharski has spent the past three years as a graduate assistant for the Bears.

“Morgan (Sacharski) made my decision to promote her an easy one,” said Starkey. “She has performed in a manner which demonstrates that she will have a bright future in coaching. We’re just glad that it will continue to be with Lenoir-Rhyne.”

This past year, Sacharski helped guide Lenoir-Rhyne to 24-7 overall record and a share of the 2013-14 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Regular Season Championship. The Bears also hosted the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament in March.

With Sacharski on staff the past three seasons, the Bears have compiled a 62-26 record.

Sacharski came to Lenoir-Rhyne after playing four seasons at Converse College (2008-11), an NCAA Division II school and a member of Conference Carolinas in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Sacharski was co-captain for Converse for two seasons (2009-10 & 2010-11) and led the team in rebounding and assists.

Sacharski participated in the WBCA’s "So You Want To Be A Coach" program as she was selected as one of 62 participants in the program at the 2011 Women’s NCAA Division I Final Four in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Sacharski, a native of Merton, Wisconsin, will graduate in May with a master’s degree in business administration. Sacharski earned her undergraduate degree from Converse in 2011 in business administration and marketing.
