Law named AC @ McNeese St.

McNeese State head women’s basketball coach Brooks Donald Williams completed her staff with the hiring of Ben Law.

Law is a native of Aubrey, Texas and a graduate of Baylor, where he earned both his bachelor and masters degree. He has spent the last two years as the head girls coach at Santa Fe High. Law joins Pauline Love as new coaches on the staff along with Kacie Cryer who is entering her second season with the Cowgirls.

Law has been involved in postseason play on all levels. He led Creekview High to five consecutive state playoffs, three Bi-District championships, two Bi-District Finalist and three Area Finalist. Law served as an assistant coach at Memphis from 2000-2002, helping the 2001 team advance to the WNIT.

From 1998-2000, Law served as a basketball operations assistant for the Miami Heat and the WNBA’s Miami Sol. The Heat won the Atlantic Conference Championship and advanced to the NBA Playoffs in 1999 and 2000.

Law began his coaching career at Mart High School where he spent one season (1996-97) as the boys assistant coach. He helped lead the team to the District Championship, Bi-District and Area Champs as well as Regional Finalist.

Law has coached four All-CUSA players including one who was invited to the WNBA pre-draft camp. He coached one McDonald high school All-American nominee, coached 12 players who have played collegiately and 26 All-District selections. Law has coached against 15 WNBA first or second round draft picks including the overall #1 pick and coached the only player in NCAA history to record a triple-double without attempting a field goal.
