The Plymouth State University women’s basketball program is looking for a new coach after the resignation of veteran head coach Lauren Lavigne.
Lavigne, who has served as PSU’s head women’s basketball coach the past 14 years, has stepped down and will assume additional administrative responsibilities in the Athletic Department. A 1994 Plymouth State graduate, Lavigne played four years for the Panthers before embarking on a coaching career.
Lavigne, who became PSU’s all-time winningest women’s basketball coach in 2002-03, guided the Panthers to a 14-year mark of 190-183. Including two years as head coach at Endicott, her 16-year career head coaching mark is 210-212.
The Panthers have been solid New England and Little East Conference contenders during Lavigne’s tenure, earning post-season bids six times and winning two ECAC New England championships. PSU made consecutive ECAC Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010, advancing to the championship game in 2010. The Panthers also posted four consecutive 20-win seasons and ECAC Tourney berths from 1999-2003 and won ECAC championships in 2002 and 2003.
