Kutztown University women’s basketball head coach Janet Malouf has announced the hiring of former All-American Kayla Smith to the Golden Bears coaching staff.

Smith joins KU after completing last season as an assistant coach at California (Pa.), her alma mater. She helped guide the Vulcans to a 17-win season and a trip to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament.

Smith returned to Cal after playing professionally for Le Havre Al Aplemont Basket Club in France during the fall of 2011.
