The search is over for the new head coach of the Kilgore College women’s basketball program.
Anna Nimz has accepted the head coaching position and will be named as the next coach of the Lady Rangers, pending board approval.
A press conference is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the Devall Room on the Kilgore campus to introduce Nimz to the Kilgore community.
She has been head coach of Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan., since 2010.
“My experience at Labette as the head coach has afforded me the opportunity to grow as a leader and a coach,” Nimz said. “When I first heard of the opening at Kilgore I inquired immediately. I truly believe I am ready to take on a new challenge. I have learned what it takes to build a program and develop young women as student-athletes.”
Nimz also served as assistant athletic director for LCC since 2012. LCC competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Jayhawk Conference, known nationally as one of the nation’s toughest junior college basketball conferences.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2008 and master’s degree in 2009 from Pittsburg State University (Kan.) where she was also an assistant women’s basketball coach from 2008-10.
Nimz will take over for Roy Thomas who coached the Lady Rangers for nine seasons.
