Keystone College has named Meghan Sullivan as its head women’s basketball coach according to an announcement made today by Dr. Matthew Grimaldi, Director of Athletics. Sullivan takes over the helm of the Giants’ program, effective August 15, after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach at a pair of NCAA Division III institutions including two seasons at Shenandoah University following a four-year stint at the Catholic University of America.
Sullivan comes to Keystone following a two-year stint as the top assistant coach at Shenandoah in which she was actively involved in all aspects of the program including playing the lead role in the Hornets’ recruiting efforts. Additionally, she oversaw the academic progress of the team’s student-athletes, planned practice sessions, and provided team and individual instruction during practices and individual training sessions. Sullivan also led film review and breakdown sessions as well as preparing scouting reports in preparation for games.
Sullivan’s contributions at Shenandoah also extended beyond the basketball program as she was an advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee which completed service projects in the local community and she was also a member of the First Year Student Programming Committee which initiated a new leadership program for Hornet student-athletes. Sullivan also assisted the Sports Information Department with statistical coverage of select home athletic contests.
Prior to joining Shenandoah’s staff, Sullivan spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Catholic where she helped lead the Cardinals back-to-back Landmark Conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. Catholic went on to claim the ECAC South Region Championship in 2013-14 and Sullivan was a member of head coach Matt Donohue’s staff that was honored as the Landmark Coaching Staff of the Year. During Sullivan’s tenure at Catholic, the Hornets were ranked as high as #11 in the country and #2 in the region.
At Catholic, Sullivan recruited and mentored 11 players who would go on to earn All-Conference accolades including Jill Woerner, who was a WBCA All-American and the Landmark Player of the Year in the 2012-13 season along with Emily Grabiak, a D3hoops.com All-American pick and the Landmark Player of the Year in the 2013-14 campaign.
Sullivan was active in all facets of Catholic’s program where she was the second assistant for two years before being elevated to the top assistant position in 2012. Sullivan was responsible for advanced scouting of opponents, individual player development, and coordinating all aspects of the team’s recruiting efforts. She also oversaw the team’s academic programming and was the Assistant Director for the Cardinal Basketball Academy, a co-ed youth basketball academy.
Sullivan entered the coaching ranks following a three-year playing career at Elmira College as a guard where she went on to earn ECAC Academic President’s List honors.
Sullivan earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Elmira in 2010 before obtaining a Master of Science degree in Management with a concentration in Leadership from Catholic in 2014.
