Kent State Hires Ops

Head Coach Danielle O’Banion has announced the hiring of Krista Beechy as the new Director of Basketball Operations for Kent State’s women’s basketball.

"We are excited to add Northeast Ohio native Krista Beechy to our staff," said O’Banion. "She is a proven winner with strong relationships throughout the state of Ohio. Krista’s work ethic and basketball pedigree will positively impact our program."

Beechy joins the Golden Flashes from Winthrop where she was a graduate assistant with women’s basketball while earning her Masters Degree in business administration with a concentration in finance.

The Winesburg, Ohio, native is very familiar with women’s basketball in her home state after serving as a staff member for the Ohio Girls Basketball Report and being the head junior varsity and assistant varsity girls basketball coach for the Hiland Lady Hawks in Berlin, Ohio, from 2010-2012.

Beechy also coached for the Georgia Metros, NEO Swish Basketball Club and Jim Clayton’s Sports City U Basketball Academy. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Grove City College where she was a two-year captain and four-year letter winner on the basketball team.

Prior to her collegiate career, Beechy helped Hiland High School to two state championships and three final fours in her four-year career. She is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and has her NCAA Approved Coaches certification.
