Kent State hires assistant

Kent State’s women’s basketball Head Coach Danielle O’Banion has announced the hiring of Kylene Spiegel as an assistant coach for the program.

"Kylene brings a high level of energy and professionalism to our staff," O’Banion said. "Her diverse skill set will be an immediate boost for our program."

Spiegel joins the Golden Flashes from Tiffin University where she was the associate head coach with responsibilities including recruiting coordinator, coaching the Dragons’ perimeter players and overseeing fundraising, community service and public relations.

The Tiffin alumna had a four-year playing career with the Dragons where she was named All-Conference and All-Independent. Spiegel scored 1,105 points in her collegiate career and owns the Tiffin career record in assists (468) and single-season record in assists (143).

Spiegel earned her undergraduate degree in sports management in 2009 and her Master’s in business leadership in the spring of 2011. She is a member of the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.
