Tory Kennedy has been named the next head coach of the Mitchell College women’s basketball program, as announced by Director of Athletics Matt Finlayson.
Kennedy joins the Mariners ahead of the 2025–26 season, bringing over a decade of coaching and administrative experience at both the collegiate and high school levels.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tory Kennedy and her family to the Mitchell community as our head women’s basketball coach,” said Finlayson. “She brings a wealth of experience in player development, recruiting, scouting, and overall program leadership that aligns perfectly with our department. We look forward to Tory leading our Mariner student-athletes and providing them with the best possible experience, both on and off the court.”
Kennedy comes to Mitchell from Keene State College, where she served as an assistant women’s basketball coach beginning in 2022. During her time with the Owls, she was responsible for opponent scouting and analysis using Synergy and FastScout, recruiting prospective student-athletes, and assisting with practice and game management. She also served as head coach for Keene State’s Owl Hoop Camp, overseeing camp operations, skill development sessions, and the mentorship of student coaches.
“I’m honored and excited to join the Mitchell College women’s basketball program,” said Kennedy. “From day one, Matt Finlayson and the Athletic Department have been extremely welcoming and supportive. I’m looking forward to connecting with our players and building a culture of growth, teamwork, and excellence both on and off the court.”
Before her time at Keene State, Kennedy gained valuable coaching experience at the high school level, including a stint as varsity girls’ basketball coach at Nashua Christian Academy—where she led the team to an undefeated season in her first year—and as junior varsity coach at Souhegan High School. She began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Lesley University during the 2011–12 season, mentoring student-athletes and assisting with daily program operations.
In addition to her coaching background, Kennedy has a strong foundation in higher education administration. She served as Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Keene State College from 2020 to 2024 and previously worked in financial aid at Nashua Community College.
A three-year women’s basketball player and 2011 graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, Kennedy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Management. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Athletic Leadership at Vermont State University, with an expected graduation date of May 2027.
